February 21, 1946 - April 30, 2026
Carole Ann (Keighley) Andre passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, after a short battle with vascular dementia, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
She was the wife of the late Douglas W. Andre, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Vincent Joseph Keighley and Lillian Anna (Dauplaise) Keighley. Carole carried strong family values throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of St. Joseph’s Elementary School, Bishop Stang High School, Class of 1963, and Emmanuel College, Class of 1967.
A woman of deep faith, Carole was most recently a parishioner of St. Rafael the Archangel Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC where she had lived since 1995. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and something she shared through quiet acts of kindness, generosity, and service to others.
She began her career in New Bedford, MA as a school teacher, teaching English as a Second Language to Spanish and Portuguese speaking students and later taught in the very first classroom for children with disabilities as a result of the 1975 passage of the Education for All Handicapped Children law. After moving to Richmond, VA in 1978, she worked in the accounting department of Hunton & Williams law firm, retiring from their Raleigh, NC office in 2016 after 33 years of service. In retirement, she was a volunteer at the Kerr Family YMCA and enjoyed taking chair yoga and strength training classes. Her greatest joy, however, was that retirement afforded her more time with her three grandchildren. She was famous for her summertime “Grammy Camps” which included all-you-can eat pancake breakfasts, swimming at the pool, and endless dishes of ice cream.
She will be remembered for her love of baking and her unwavering and unconditional love for her family. She never missed her children’s swim meets and school events or summer and fall vacations in Massachusetts to visit and catch up with her mother, while she was still alive, and with her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Neal and her wife Jess and their children, Michael, Lola, and Jett of Four Oaks, NC, and her son, William Andre of Clayton, NC; her sisters, Kate Keighley of Texas and Rosemary Keighley of Massachusetts; and her brothers, Kevin Keighley and Mark Keighley and his wife Nancy of Massachusetts. Also surviving is her godchild, Sheri Lewis Tuberosa and her sister, Pamela Lewis Varon, both of whom remained near and dear to her heart. She is predeceased by her late brother David Keighley.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the amazing caregivers at No Place Like Home Senior Services in Garner, NC and the compassionate staff of Gentiva Hospice in Clayton, NC who allowed us to honor our mother’s wish to remain at home throughout her illness. Their support will never be forgotten.
Her visitation will be held on May 14, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, with sharing of stories to commence at 12:30 pm, in the BROWN-WYNNE FUNERAL HOME, 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC. Private burial to follow at a later date in the collumbarium of St. Rafael the Archangel Catholic Church.
