Charles was born December 4, 1929 in Lithonia, Georgia to John Franklin New and Ella Vivian Mize New. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corp.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Peavy New.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Cynthia “Cindy” Benton; Robin Costa; son, Michael “Chuck” New; 5 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren all of Raleigh; and brother, Julian New of Dry Fork, VA.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service 2:00-3:00 pm in the mausoleum chapel. Burial will follow the service.
