Daisie was born in the small town of Maple Hill in Pender County. She was the youngest child of Bryant Henry and Hattie Rawls Wooten. She cherished her family of six sisters - Louise, Effie, Lila, Olive, Edna, Sister (Mildred) and three brothers, George Henry, Bernard and Percy. Being the youngest, she was raised with many of her 25 nieces and nephews. She looked forward to sending birthday wishes to each of them during the year. She was proud of her family and loved every one of them. And they loved their Aunt Daisie.
Daisie worked 32 years for Eastern Airlines at Raleigh Durham Airport. She was proud of being a part of Eastern’s history and the relationships she developed with coworkers and customers over the years at RDU. Even when the airline ceased operations, she organized annual reunions with employees that continue to this day. She retired from Eastern in 1987 in order to enjoy time with her husband, Henry Herman Craft.
Daisie and Herman were married for 47 years prior to his death in 2004. They enjoyed visiting family and friends, breakfast with their Biscuitville crew, loving grandchildren, and the road trips taken with Raymond and Vernell Jones.
Daisie is survived by her son, Dale Craft and daughter-in-law, Reecie of Memphis, TN; and daughters, Joan Craft of Raleigh, NC and Judy Craft Merritt and son-in-law, Tim Merritt of Holly Springs, NC. She is also survived by her five granddaughters, Hannah, Emily and Jennifer Craft of Memphis, TN and Amanda and Lindsey Merritt of Holly Springs, NC. In addition, she is survived by her dear sister, Edna Peterson, of Fayetteville, NC.
