

The Koehler Family was shattered with the unexpected and sudden death of David Charles Koehler, Age 59, of Raleigh North Carolina who passed away on the evening of December 20, 2024 at Wakemed.
David was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois on January 3, 1965, the son of James Walter Koehler and Elsie Ritter Koehler.
David joined the United States Marine Corps in 1983, where he was stationed at Camp Geiger, North Carolina. During his time in North Carolina, he met the love of his life Lupe Koehler. They were married February 28, 1987 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. They would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in February 2025. David retired from the United States Postal Service in April, 2021.
David was his happiest spending time with his family, wife Lupe, his 3 sons, three daughters-in-law, two grandbabies, his furbaby Rocky, 3 grand dogs and 4 grand cats. He enjoyed running and biking on the greenway behind their home, swimming and yoga. David especially loved vacationing with Lupe and soaking up the sun on cruise ships. They recently returned from a 10 day cruise where David and Lupe enjoyed UTVs through the jungle, historical tours and simply spending time together. David was devoted to his family and friends and was always available to lend a hand and offer advice when asked.
David is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe Koehler, his three sons, Jacob Koehler and his wife Shannon Koehler and granddaughter Quinn Koehler of Garner, Zachary Koehler and his fiancé Jordan Presnell of Raleigh along with their two dogs Remson and Hank, and Joseph Koehler and his wife Madeline Koehler along with his grandson Levi Koehler of Rougemont and dog Bella. David is also survived by his mother in law Gladys Flores of Jacksonville, sister in law Maria Flores of Raleigh and his nephew Joshua Sywanyk and niece Chelsie Sandford, and brother in law Michael Flores of Raleigh and his partner Valarie Poole as well as numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Friday January 3, 2025 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donation to be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in David's memory.
