Dowu is survived by his wife, Beverly Thomas; children, Kwame Thomas, Khadiya Curtis (husband Stafford Curtis, Jr), and Denton Thomas, Jr; grandchildren, Jabari Curtis and Kyrie Curtis; and siblings; Alusine Okoro Thomas, Issa Thomas, Alhaji Mohamed Thomas, Osman Thomas, Ishata Thomas, and Ayo Thomas.
A funeral service for Dowu will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Islamic Association of Raleigh - IAR Masjid, 808 Atwater St, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Following the funeral service, burial will be at IAR Cemetery, 6711 Hankinson Rd, Wendell, NC 27591.
Lastly, the Celebration of Life ceremony will be at 3:30pm at Chinelos Event Center, 6471-103 Triangle Plantation Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616.
