

We lost our best friend today. He was known as Ed, Eddie, Little Eddie, Best Friend, Beloved Dad and Brother. Edward D. Evans, 66, passed from this life on March 5, 2011 at his home. Ed was born January 28, 1945 in Wake County, NC, son of the late Edward Travis Evans and Elsie Richardson Evans.
Ed was a senior member of the corporation, Evans & Wade Advertising, Ltd., founded by his father. Upon his retirement, Ed volunteered at Rex Hospital in the ICU waiting room, helped local homeless shelters by giving his time to them, and ministering to others through his friendship and love. He touched a lot of people, young and old alike. None will ever be the same having known Ed, his laughter, and his unconditional love. Ed was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church in Raleigh, and a part of many other churches in the Raleigh area.
Ed is survived by his son, Edward D. Evans, Jr., and preceded in death by his son John Gary Evans, his parents, and his brother Richard Evans. Also surviving, brother Harold Evans and wife Jenny of Asheville, NC; sister Marsha Evans Wade and husband Eugene of Raleigh, NC; many nephews and nieces including Susan and Ricky Wade, Cindy Mills Hartman, David Mills, and great nieces Hannah Elsie Chapman and Brooke Evans, plus special cousins and many close friends, including Janet Evans.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
