Edward Bartholomew Hanley, 77, of Raleigh, died Saturday afternoon after a long battle with heart disease. He was born November 18, 1936 in New York City to John and Marie Hanley. Edward was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Jane Hanley, his daughters, Nancy Ann Hanley, Mary Elizabeth Cowart, and Susan Kathleen Hanley, and his two grandsons, Jonathan Cowart and Daniel Hernandez-Hanley.
Edward Hanley served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1962. He was employed as a properties manager for ITT and Fidelity Investments in New York City until 1999.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staffs at both Duke Raleigh Hospital and Rex Hospital, who cared for Edward throughout his illnesses.
The family will receive friends at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road in Raleigh on Wednesday, June 11th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
