

Elias Sebastiampillai, 87, retired Teacher, St. Anthony’s College – Kayts – Sri Lanka, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2010, surrounded by his family at his residence in Raleigh, NC. He was born on October 28, 1923 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka to Victoria and Michael Sebastiampillai.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: his sons Elias Joseph Jeyarajah and his wife Shanthini, of Raleigh NC, Elias Nithianandarajah and his wife Vijaya, of Raleigh NC, Pius Ponrajah and his wife Thershiny, of Toronto, ON; his daughters Nirmala Jeyaranee Jeyarajah and her husband Joseph Jeyarajah, of Toronto, ON, Vathsala Rose Lucas and her husband Soosaipillai Vincent Lucas, of Yarlpaanam, Sri Lanka.
He will also be missed by his dear grandchildren: Shoumini, Shiromini, Marino, Mariyan, Sulaxan, Johnathan, Nirosha, Marijulan, Kirushigan, and Manoj. He was predeceased by his wife Ponrose Elias, his brother Gnanapragasam and his sisters Margaret Sinnathamby and Mariamma Prince.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday, December 20, from 6:00 -8:00 pm at the Chapel of Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh. A prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will take place in Toronto, ON, Canada with a viewing and wake at Ogden Funeral Home, Scarborough from 5 – 9 pm on Wednesday, December 22nd, and the funeral mass to follow on Thursday 10am at Christ The King catholic church.
