Born in The Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late Solomon and Betty Kopp, and the brother of the late Stephen Michael Kopp. Elliot is survived by his wife Cheryl Gardner Kopp and his daughter Sara Brittany Erin Kopp, both of Raleigh, NC.
Elliot attended the Bronx High School of Science, graduated from City College of New York, and earned his medical degree at State University of New York at Syracuse. He completed his Internship and Residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center and his Fellowship at Stanford University. Elliot was board certified in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, and Allergy/Immunology.
Elliot attended Temple Beth Or and regularly shared his sense of humor at the Bible and Bagels Interfaith study group. He enjoyed the art of Bonsai and was a member of the Triangle Bonsai Society. He was proud of his claim to the highest kill ratio of the group, which was offset by his success with square foot vegetable gardening.
Elliot’s cherished patients will remember him for his ever present sense of humor and his unwavering dedication to them. He treasured spending time with his daughter, Brittany, his wife, Cheryl, and their two Bichons, Kira and Mellie.
