
Beloved father of Larry Weiss (Jeanne) of Woodinville WA, Cindy Jones (Greg) and Jim Weiss (Pam) of Raleigh, NC
Grandfather of Dr. Matthew Weiss, Michael Weiss (Carrie), Natalie Marcheschi (Dr Alex), Kenny Jones (Anne), Deanna Jones (Cameron Martin). He was the proud Great Grandfather of Calvin & Hallie Weiss and Elaine Marcheschi.
Step-father to Jeffery Kirk, Uncle to Julie Bohaczyk (nee’ Weiss) (Ken) and the late Tammy Weiss.
He survived two wives, LaVerne Mae (nee’ Wilson) and later Mona Mae (nee Hennigh). He was the beloved son of the late Carl and Hertha Weiss (nee’ Rock) and brother to the late Robert Weiss (LaVonne) of Chicago, IL
Frank also loved dogs and had one most of his life. His beloved beagle Irene will be living with Cindy.
Frank worked with Ace Hardware for half a year then started at Hellicrafters from age 16 (1942-43) to about 1959 with time off for military service 1952-54. At Hellicrafters, he started as a gofer and ended as Plant Manager.
Frank was a proud Marine Corps veteran who served during Korea - served in CA and FL (near Miami).
He had a 4DF deferment for serving in WWIl.
During his early working years, he put himself through college earning his bachelor in Engineering degree from IIT in 1959.
After college, he moved to CA where he worked as a Systems Engineer for IBM during the computerization of industry. Doing a lot of stuff that had never been done before. IBM moved him from CA to NY to NC to FL.
Interests included: flying (flew/owned a Cessna 172), CAP search and rescue), ham radio KY4W, traveling the US and Canada via motor home. Stepped foot in all 50 States and all the Canadian provinces. Editor of a motor home club newsletter. And throughout his life enjoyed photography and sharing photos with family and friends. He remained interested in computer and automotive technology as well science. He enjoyed science fiction books and Loved his Tesla S. He also enjoyed volunteering in his Grandchildren’s schools, especially Leadmine Elementary.
