Gene Ray Lowrimore

Gene Ray Lowrimore, 84, of Raleigh, NC passed away on December 16, 2020. Gene was born in Columbus County, NC to the late Geneva Ray and Asmond Lundy Lowrimore on February 10, 1937. He married Julia Norman Lowrimore on August 31, 1958 in Raleigh, NC.

Gene attended Tabor City High School and proceeded to have his Undergraduate Studies at North Carolina State University. Ultimately, Gene received his Doctorate at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. He worked at Hercules Powder Company in Radford, VA and the Environmental Protection Agency in the RTP. He created his own business, Decision Systems Inc. before working at Duke University for the remainder of his career.

Gene enjoyed his attendance and volunteering at Fairmont United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC.

Gene is survived by his sons, Gene Lowrimore, Jr. of Wake Forest, NC and Kerry Lowrimore (Susan) of Youngsville, NC; Daughter, Jill Schott (Rick) of Auburn, PA; Grandchildren, Lucas Schott, Trevor Lowrimore, Avery Lowrimore, Riley Lowrimore, Leyton Lowrimore, and Rayne Keane; Brother, Victor Scott Lowrimore; and Sister, Vicki Lynn Fowler.

Gene is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Julia Norman Lowrimore; Daughter, Amy Lowrimore; and Brothers, Joney Day Lowrimore and Terry Lundy Lowrimore.

The memorial service is postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.
