

Georgetta Culton Britt, 93, a resident of Atria at Oakridge, died peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh, NC. Georgetta was born on February 21, 1932, to James T. Culton Jr. and Anabel Nevius Culton.
She grew up in Junction City, Kentucky. After graduating from high School, a whirlwind of adventures took her from working for the FBI in Washington D.C. for one week, to studying accounting, to a Summertime visit in California where Georgetta met a Navy sailor named William Britt. After marrying on Christmas Day in 1955, Georgetta and Bill settled in North Augusta, SC before moving to Raleigh NC in 1970.
Georgetta worked for nearly 5 decades as an accountant, exhibiting charm and humor with everyone she met. She and Bill loved to dine out, travel, and spend time in favorite places, including France, Italy, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the National Parks, and Bedford, VA. She was an avid reader and loved to cook using her treasured collection of cookbooks.
Georgetta is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, William Britt; son, James Britt; daughters, Susan Baker and Laura Britt; daughter-in-law, Mary; grandchildren, Jenny, Ashley, Erin, Jacob, Heather, Gayle, Adrienne, and Matt; great-grandchildren Jayden, Skyler, Alexandria, Jason, George, Sadie, Elliott, Xena, and Linus.
A memorial service for Georgetta will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Danville, Kentucky in the Spring.
