She graduated from Greensboro High School (now Grimsely High School) in 1955, attended Woman’s College (now UNC Greensboro) before moving onto and graduating from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1959, where she was in the second ever class of the UNC School of Dental Hygiene. Thus began a fierce love of all things Tarheel sports.
Hilda married Roy Patterson (Pat) Price, Jr, also of Greensboro, on May 15, 1960. They settled in Raleigh in 1972, where she and Pat raised their two daughters.
Hilda enjoyed many years of golf, well into her later years, and made life-long friends at North Ridge Country Club, where she had been a member since 1977. She joined the LGA and was even a member of the ‘Hole-in-One-Club’.
A great lover of books, she thoroughly enjoyed her meetings with the members of “The Best Book Club Ever”. Additionally, she loved spending Monday nights with her bridge group with whom she played for many, many years. But perhaps Hilda’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with her Wednesday Morning Breakfast Girls every week with her most treasured friends.
She found great joy and much satisfaction from her time as a Stephen Minister, her years as a Bible Study Fellowship leader, and her time involved with Prison Ministry.
Hilda was most content at the beach with dear friends, her family, and on her Mother-Daughter trips with Britt and Jenna.
She was also an avid supporter of her grandchildren’s sports and was often on the sidelines cheering them on with great enthusiasm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter, Korey Patterson Price, sister, Patricia Marie Holt and nephew, Ron Rich.
Surviving Hilda is her husband of 61 years, Pat, her daughters Britt Price Koester & husband Joe of Purcellville, Virginia and Jennifer Price Tracy & husband Reid of Raleigh. She had seven adoring grandchildren who will miss their Hoohoo terribly; Will Koester, Owen Koester, Madeleine Koester, Griffin Koester, Reid Tracy, Dixon Tracy, and Sadler Tracy. She also leaves behind three nieces: Deborah Martin, Pamela Kirkpatrick, and Tricia Wittmer along with several grand nieces and nephews.
Treasured are long-lasting, faithful, unconditional friendships that she was privileged to have. Two dear women whom she considered "sisters in the heart" are Wendy Honeycutt and Bettilaine Wolfe.
