He served 7 years in the US Army 82nd Airborne and 33 years as a volunteer fireman for both New Hope Volunteer Fire Department and YRAC. He retired in 1992 from East Carolina White Trucks.
Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Riggan Thomas; daughter, Debbie Thomas Eaker and husband, Rusty; son, Randy Thomas and wife, Becky; beloved Papa to 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Henri Claire Dawkins and 3 nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road starting at 10am. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11am. Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.
