I was thinking about you today. I still miss you, Kent. My sweet cousin & dear friend. 

I cannot believe it's been a year. So many times this past year I picked up the phone to call Kent. RIP my sweet cuz - my live was blessed by knowing you.

I always loved our special connection with the Clifton family.  Growing up we could easily connect no matter how much time had passed.  Even though I haven't been nearby once again in recent years, I still felt close to Kent and will miss him.  My prayers are with you, Kyle, Tami, Sara and family.  I know you feel his loss in a powerful way.  Please know that the Parrish cousins are still here for you and love you.

Dear Ones,
The shock has worn off, the acceptance has come, but his memory will never leave me. How much I loved his gentle spirit and big ole heart! Not to mention his wicked sense of humor. 

One of the "baby cousins" along with me, Buddy Bo, and Ronnie. Those 3 boys were who I played with at family get-togethers. Such special times and memories. And he DID cheat at Monopoly and steal my Halloween candy! 

Tami-Kent loved you so much. He told me that often. He felt like you deserved more, and that he "married up" in you!

Sara - you were his BIG sister. Oh how he looked up to you. He spoke often of your kindness, sweet nature, and of how much he loved having you as his sister. 

John - you helped fill the void left by Dennis' passing. You were his "other brother"

Kyle - there wasn't a heart big enough to hold the love your father had for you. To say he was proud of you, is only the tip of the depth of feelings and pride he had in you.  We loved that our sons know each other and are natured so much alike. We had even planned to have an all out family feud Monopoly tournament to crown the SLUM LORDS of the town of Monopoly! LOL The Cliftons against the Bondors. Kent and I decided to team up with our boys so that we wouldn't lose too badly and be humiliated by you two brainiacs!

Joy - Kent loved you just like you were 'blood'. He was so grateful to you for being there with and for Dennis, helping with Aunt Nell, and for truly being a "joy" to the family. 

Kristy - Kent saw you as a beautiful, poised woman. He was so impressed with you - the entire package. A beauty through to you soul.

I shall treasure my times spent with Kent, especially our 're-connection' the last couple of years. I loved our long discussions about life, family, past times, our children and the world. Kent and I were alike in many ways and beliefs but yet very different.

During these conversations, Kent spoke mostly of his life growing up, his time with Tami and OF COURSE Kyle. We talked about the world situations, our hopes and dreams. Kent had a lot of positive plans for 2012. 

My prayers are with you now and will to continue to be with you through this tough year ahead - the year of "firsts" - the first times without Kent. In my personal experience these are the toughest times. Take comfort knowing he is at peace and with you always in your love and memories for him. And always, always remember - I am but a phone call away.

Growing up, I lived on the 2400 block of Derby and Kent lived on the 2300 block. He was a couple of years older than me but he was always found the time to hang out with me for a bit. We played a lot of basketball together and he always had a bundle of energy on the b-ball court.  

What I remember most about Kent is how kind he was.  

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.    RIP Kent

Kent was the nicest "buddy" I ever had as teens. We weren't into sports...we were simply "into" hanging out and enjoying life. This news has saddened me more than any in many years. I will forever now....regret not keeping in touch with him.

Jim and I spent many hours on the soccer sidelines with Kent and Tami watching our sons play.  Kent loved to watch Kyle play and loved to chat it up with everyone around. A few years ago we ran into him at Johnson Lambe and it started talking like we had just seen each other the day before. He was so very proud of him family and always had a smile on his face. Tami and Kyle I hope that the happy memories of the past will help comfort you in the days ahead.

i spent many times at my aunt nellie and uncle howards when i was a little girl. i remember kent loved basketball and was always going out with friends.i would always want to hang around him because  i thought him hung the moon i really think i might have got on his nerves a bit but he never said anything.then my grandmama died and we didnt go over as much .my prayers are with your family . god bless

I have often thought of Kent through the years; he was an incredibly kind person, lots of fun, a spark in his eye, and courageous. Derby Drive and Longview Gardens have lost a dear friend

Mitch and I are so sorry for your loss. We met Kent here at Wrightsville Beach last year and he was a very nice person,we had just spoken with him right after Christmas on the phone to wish a great new year. So shocked and saddend to hear of his passing.

Kent and I were good friends at Longview Gardens Elementary.  I remember when he had his first heart surgery in fifth grade.  The News and Observer took our picture and wrote a story about it.  I still have the picture and newspaper clipping.  After 5th grade I moved and lost touch with him.  However, I can not think of Longview Gardens without recalling fond memories of our friendship from so long ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

What a sweet guy!  He was my first boyfriend. I was in the 4th grade, he was in the 6th grade.  We remained good friends all through high school.  He loved the Eagles band and his white car! My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We all loved Kent at Enloe HIgh School!!!!

I spent many a day on the basketball court, and many an evening hanging out with Kent in the late 70's and early 80's.  I hate we didn't get to see one another or speak much since then, but I always valued our friendship.  I pray Tami, Kyle, and the rest of the family have the strength to get through this difficult time.  Rest in peace my friend!

I will never think of Derby Dr. without thinking of Kent. He was my "buddy". We were the same age  and played together every day. We would ride our peddle cars or wagons in the street, play with his GI Joe and my Barbie! I consider him the really first friend I ever had! I hate we lost contact when we moved, but I did get to see him at Enloe. He had a great family and I use to love to eat sugar cookies at his house!  RIP Kent. I know you will be missed very much! i grew up with kent and spoke to him on the phone for the first time in years right after his mom died.  it was the first time we'd talked in decades.  right now, i'm really glad i made that call.  the neighborhood gang loved you man.
