Iva Dean Jethro Sawyer

Iva Dean was born December 17, 1929 in Washington County, NC to John Henry and Essie Dean Davenport Jethro. Iva Dean was a retired nurse of the Washington County Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John Wilbert Sawyer and three brothers, Bobby Ray Jethro, Russell Jethro and James Harold Jethro.

Iva Dean is survived by her sons, Harold Wayne Sawyer and his wife Mainor of Roper; Rev. Johnny Sawyer and his wife, Kim of Belmont, NC; Russell Sawyer of Virginia Beach, VA; daughters, Ellen Herring and her husband, Larry of Clayton, NC; Denise Venable and her husband Dr. Robert Venable of Roper; brothers, John Jethro and his wife Margaret of Lake City, FL; Shelton Jethro and his wife, Juanita of Vanceboro; Paul Jethro and his wife Liz of Greenville; Rev. Phillip Jethro and his wife, Darlene of Washington, NC; and sisters, Harriet Person and her husband, Tom of Plymouth; and Irene Wilson of Plymouth; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be Monday August 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plymouth Church of God, 107 Truman Avenue, Plymouth, NC 27962 with Rev. Phillip Jethro, Rev. William Braswell, and Rev. Johnny Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Plymouth. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 -7:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 216 Washington Street, Plymouth, NC.
