I knew Janet from The National Center for Health Statistics where we both were employed.  Janet was one classy lady who always had flawless makeup and was always dressed to impress.  I remember Janet to be an all around talented lady who was very personable.  In my opinion as well as others, she was a Martha Stewart in her own right.  A wonderful lady who has gone from labor to reward.  It was such a great pleasure to have known her.  God grant her eternal rest.

Dear Kit and family,

I never had the pleasure of meeting your wife and mother Janet, yet I heard and knew about her through Kit often at work, and with great admiration, fondness and love.  She will be deeply missed and mourned by all of you, I am sure.  Kit, my heart is just broken for you, I can not fathom the loss and pain you must be feeling now; please know that my wife and I hope that you have the love and support to make it through this terrible tragedy.  Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with you and your family during this sorrowful time. On Janet's last day of work for NCHS, several of her coworkers from RTP took her to lunch. I was in the front seat as we drove back from the restaurant, and I commented on how much I liked the solar-powered toy on her dashboard. When I mentioned that I had been unable to find one, Janet diverted the car to the Dollar Store on Hwy 55. The group waited in the car outside while I ran in and bought 4 solar happy flower dashboard toys. I still have one of them on my dashboard today.

I have another one in my office. It has a square yellow picket fence shaped flower pot with some happy pink/red flowers. I have it sitting on top of my bookcase in my office beside a get well card Janet gave me a year before, which is the same color of yellow with the same color of flowers. Janet was always thinking of others, that's the thing I will remember most about her. I only wish she could have had more time to enjoy her retirement.  

Memorial Service

In addition to her parents, Walton & Rosa Marie Adams, Janet was preceded in death by her brother Edward McLawhorn.  She is remembered by her husband, Kit Sermershiem of Raleigh; two children, Jeremy McBride, Raleigh, & Carolyn Baber of Phoenix; two Grandchildren, Jaden (12) and Logan (8);  her sister, Carol ReDavid; brother, Walton Adams; brother-in-law, Louie ReDavid;  sister-in-law, Bonnie Adams; and two nieces, Danielle ReDavid and Monica Williams.
