

Jay was married to Marion Babin on May 28th, 1988; they have been married for thirty-one years.
Jay began his career with CP&L and stayed with the company as it transition to Progress Energy and then to Duke Progess; his most recent title being Crew Line Planner. Jay was with the company for nearly forty years. Jay’s greatest joys in life we’re his family, friends, dogs. He would do “well-checks” every weekend. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting.
Jay is survived by his wife, Marion Babin Vinson; son, Alexander Jay Vinson; daughter, Allison Lindsay Vinson; mother, Jean Malpass Vinson; brothers, James (sp. Lynne) and Jonathan Vinson (sp. Doreen); and his best buddies, Maggie May, Luke, and Max. Jay is preceded in death by his father, James E. Vinson Sr.; longtime friend, Doug Meier.
The celebration of life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 23rd, 2019 and the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home off Millbrook Road in Raleigh where Bruce Taylor will be officiating. Receiving and visitation will also be held on June 23rd at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 2:00 pm and after the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
