James was born in the Pullen House and lived within a mile’s radius of his birthplace his entire life. He was a community pillar who was always ready and eager to serve one and all with his warm smile. His hands are symbolic of his gifts and talents of farming, building, engineering and creativity, but most of all his love. James was such a hard and dedicated worker, who did his work “as unto the Lord”.
Left to cherish his memory, is his wife of 62 years, Betty Bunch Taylor; and his children, Jimmy Taylor (Anita) of Raleigh; Gregory Taylor (Sue) of Wilmington; and Letha Doherty (John) Raleigh. Grandchildren Caneel Ward, Taylor W. Boone (Ryan), Wesley Taylor, Evan Taylor, Lee Taylor and Nash Taylor, and a large close family of in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jesse James and Lecter Taylor, his sisters Daphine Weaver, and Evelyn (Joe) Jones.
