Joan Craig Long, 93, went to be with our heavenly father on Monday, January 27, 2025. Joan had all four of her daughters by her side at the time of her passing. Joan was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and became a great great grandmother in late December. Joan’s greatest joy and pride throughout her life was her family. If she could have built a house large enough for everyone to live there, she would have done so. Joan planned a beach trip every summer, for over 55 years, so she could have her family together. Family was everything!
Joan was born in Richmond, Virginia to James and Inez Craig. Richmond is where she met her high school sweetheart, that later became her husband. Joan and Bob were married for 60 years, before Bob’s passing. Joan worked with many Associations throughout her business career. She was the secretary for the North Carolina State Fair for many, many years. During that time, Joan also managed the North Carolina Bus Association. Later, after she retired from these Associations, Joan became a partner in the North Carolina Flea Market. Joan met so many friends from across the nation while working with these organizations. She was highly respected and enjoyed every moment.
Joan is survived by her four daughters: Debbie Lamm of Garner, Cindy Cunningham of Wake Forest, Pamela Burns (Charles) of Apollo Beach, Fla., Robin Powers (Jimmy) of Raleigh, NC and her only sister, Leah Colyer of Richmond, VA.
Grandchildren: Brad Peacock (Kristie), Ryan Peacock (Scarlett), Blake Peacock (Summer) Chaz Burns (Lindsey), Lindsey Morgan (Neal), Lauren Whitthorne (Andrew), Taylor Warfield (Devin), Brooks Cunningham, Braxton Powers and Barrett Powers.
Great grandchildren: Hayden Peacock (Bethany), Grayson Peacock, Anna Peacock, Emmy Burns, Reese Burns, Beau Burns, Ace Burns, Maxwell Morgan, Maisie Morgan, Major Morgan, Savannah Peacock, Stella Whitthorne, Levi Whitthorne.
