

Joseph Paul Schlosser, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening, June 26, 2010. Born on August 8, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA; he was the son the late Paul and Anna (Okal) Schlosser. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Paul Schlosser, Jr.
Joe was a graduate of North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, PA. He joined the U.S. Army where he served primarily at Ft. Meade in radar and telecommunications. After the military, he worked at Bendix Radio, Philco, Sylvania and RCA. His work included helping design the satellite tracking system on the Lunar Lem Module and the Minute Man Missiles. Having lived in a variety of places including Ecuador, Okinawa, Massachusetts, and Ohio, he was transferred to Raleigh, NC in 1983 with ITT and retired as a components engineer from Alcatel in 1993.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years: Catherine (Kotzan) Schlosser, of Raleigh; sons: James Schlosser and wife Sandra, of Burlington, VT and Jeffrey Schlosser, of Wake Forest, NC; daughters: Jean Webb and husband Robert, of Circleville, OH and Janet Pritchett and husband John, of Raleigh; grandchildren: Christopher Schlosser, John Schlosser, Jessica Pritchett, Jennifer Pritchett and Jessica Dewes; great-grandchildren: Michael Schlosser and Brooklyn Schlosser; brother: Fran Schlosser and wife Thelma, of Wexford, PA; sister: Dolores Vinski, of Pittsburgh, PA; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 11:00 at the St. Raphael Catholic Church (5801 Falls of the Neuse – Raleigh, NC 27609). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Raphael Catholic School (5815 Falls of the Neuse Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609) or to a charity of one’s choice.
