Kathleen Burnette Kay Roy

Kathleen Burnette Roy (Kay), born April 21, 1944 in Franklinton, Virginia to the late John and Susie Burnette, passed away on December 7, 2016 after a courageous 10 year battle with dementia. Her devoted husband of 54 years, Ronald C Roy, always by her side, was with her as she entered the gates of Heaven.

Kay is survived by her son Ronald C. Roy, Jr., his wife Rhonda and grandson Henry of Benson NC, a brother, Furman Burnette of Youngsville NC and sister, Jenny Griffin, of Smithfield NC, as well as numerous Sister and Brother in laws, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Archie and Randy Burnette.

She grew up on a farm in Louisburg and moved to Raleigh, NC when she married. Kay worked for over 30 years with Nationwide Insurance Company until she retired to spend more time with her grandson, Henry.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Senters Memory Care Facility in Fuquay-Varina for the devoted care provided to her during her illness. Also, thank you to the staff of Liberty Hospice Care of Dunn, for the compassionate care in her final days. Finally, a special thank you to our family and friends for the love, support and prayers during this hard time in our lives.

Heaven is getting another angel, as she was an angel on Earth. RIP Mama, Kay, Memaw. We love you and will miss you but we know that now we have an angel watching over us.

Arrangements: Visitation Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the home of Ron and Rhonda Roy and Saturday at 11:30 to 1:30 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh NC 27609. Funeral services Saturday at 1:30, immediately following visitation. Burial at Raleigh Memorial Park.
