She was a 2nd-4th grade school teacher in NC for 30 years mostly serving at Durham County Public schools. She won the Teacher of the Year Award in 1975 for Johnson County and then won her District Award for that year.
She did extensive traveling throughout her life visiting all 7 continents.
She created with her husband the Endowment for a Prophetic Church in 1990 to aid churches in becoming active in social justice and also created a scholarship endowment fund for prophetic ministries with Duke University in 2000 to assist with the education of students for an informed Christian activism. She was always serving others throughout her life from her school kids which she taught, being a pastors wife of many NC Methodist Churches and donating her time to the local food kitchen.
She is survived by her son Bart Hammond Crum and his wife Claudia Lissette Crum, 4 grandchildren Braeden Crum, Braxton Crum, Chase Crum and Jonathan Hare.
She was always thinking of others and she will be missed by her family.
