Kermit was born at home in Randolph, Virginia to Clyde R. and Besse Nichols. They later moved to Polk Co, NC where he graduated from Green Creek high school near Tryon, N.C., in 1953. He married his sweetheart, Lois Drake Nichols in 1954 and moved to Utah where he attended BYU. During the years he and Lois lived in Utah they had five children before returning to North Carolina in 1962, where their sixth was born. He loved his wife and children very much.
He was very active in his church and faith (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and served as a Bishop for many years.
He retired from his kitchen cabinet business in 1991 and spent the following years doing missionary work in Scotland with his wife, building relationships with his family and friends and loving us all.
He is survived by his wife, Lois D. Nichols, children, Nancy Rinehart (Harry), Grant Nichols (Bonnie), Lesa Sanders, Shanna Millis, Julie Nichols, and Karen Nichols (Jimmy Williams), seventeen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to all of the caregivers who so lovingly helped us care for him during his struggle with illness.
