Lillie Smith Mahaffey passed from this life on Friday 2/18/2011. Born in Greenville, SC to James Wallace Smith and Nora Hoesh Smith. She was a long time resident of Durham, NC. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Durham and a retired teacher with the Durham County Schools. She enjoyed music, camping, golf and children.
She is proceeded in death by David Mahaffey Sr. husband and Bonnie Mahaffey, daughter. Surviving are David Mahaffey Jr. son and Deborah Mahaffey, daughter-in-law and John Mahaffey, grandson.
Visitation will be at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road Raleigh on Sunday, February 20, 2011 from 7-9 pm. A celebration of life service will be at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 East Millbrook Road Raleigh, NC on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 11 am. Following the service, there will be a graveside service at Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, NC.
