Linda Argo Butler, 79, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on January 8, 2023 surrounded by family that loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her father, Carl Argo and her loving husband of 48 years, John Butler. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud grandmother. To her grandkids, she was known as Mimi.
Born in 1943 in Portsmouth, VA, she was the daughter of Carl Argo and Helen (Collier) Argo.
Linda was an incredibly strong woman who loved her family fiercely. If you were one of her people, she would do anything for you. She made everything more fabulous, from family dinners to vacations to holidays. She had a knack for making every person she met seem like the most important person in the room. She created space for people to feel safe sharing their stories, and had a way of knowing details of someone’s life even if she barely knew them.
Linda was passionate about time with her family, close friends, taking long walks on Kiawah Island, boat rides on the Intracoastal at Wrightsville Beach, cocktails, sunsets at Shallotte, firepits, dancing, playing cards, singing along with her favorite songs, and shopping. She was known for being “fancy”, as she would never be caught leaving the house without her makeup on and dressed to the nines. Linda had an entrepreneurial spirit, always coming up with the next big idea (some have been found in magazines from the 80’s and Redix in Wrightsville Beach). Her creativity spilled over into her grandmother years, making visits with her extra magical even on the most normal day. She loved reading a good book, talking politics (with those who agreed with her), watching movies with the grandkids (snack bowls!), and cooking meals for her people. She was a true caretaker in every sense of the word.
She leaves her mother, Helen Argo of Raleigh; her daughters and their families: Stephenie (Butler) Kovac of Wendell, husband, Brent and their children, Carrington and Ryker; and Ashley (Butler) Crutchfield of Raleigh, husband, Sam and their children, Jake, Beau and Molly.
