Lois Hollifield Young

Lois was born and grew up in Spruce Pine, NC and graduated from Harris High School in Spruce Pine in 1947. She married the late Charles Maurice Young in 1952, and they lived together in Bakersville, NC, before relocating to Raleigh, NC in 1970. She worked for North Carolina Department of Transportation in Raleigh, NC until she retired. After an illness in 2010 she moved to Wilmington, NC where she lived with her son Thomas Young and his family until the time of her death.

She is survived by four children, June Y. Iannetti and husband Francesco Iannetti of Raleigh, NC, Charles M. Young, Jr. and wife Amber Young of Wake Forest, NC, Thomas E. Young and wife Alicia Young of Wilmington, NC and Jeanne C. Young of Raleigh, NC, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by one sister, Ruth H. Young of Durham, NC and thirteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Young, three sisters, Elizabeth Arges, Naomi Sparks and June Pannell, and two brothers, Farland Hollifield and Freddy Hollifield.

A funeral service will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC at 2:00 on Sunday, February 20, 2014. A visitation will be held at the funeral home immediately preceding the funeral, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Raleigh Memorial Park. Online condolences at www.brownwynne.com
