

Lynda Lloyd Smith, age 89, passed away on December 12, surrounded by family.
Lynda was born on April 20, 1936, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Lynda was the daughter of Ruth Royster Lloyd and Alfanzo Lloyd, and the sister of Jane Lloyd. She graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1954 and attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as an art major.
Lynda was married on August 18, 1956, to David “Smitty” Smith and was happily married for 69 years.
Lynda was a gifted artist with an eye for beauty, which was reflected in both her artwork and her love of antiques. She was an exceptional cook and especially treasured baking cookies with her granddaughters, passing down recipes that remain a part of family life today. She found peace and happiness in nature, enjoying long walks along the beach, collecting shells, trips to the mountains, and adventures out West, where she loved to fly fish and collect turquoise.
Lynda is survived by her husband, David. Sons David Jr. (Melissa) of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mark of Safety Harbor, Florida. Grandchildren Chelsea and Kendall of Raleigh, North Carolina, Kala and Parker of Safety Harbor, Florida.
The family would like to thank caregivers Zuneda, Susan, Vivian, Nelly, Philo, and Mercedez for their loving care of Lynda.
A service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Brown-Wynn Funeral Home on Millbrook Road (1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609) at 1:00 pm.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
