Lynn Jacobson Young, 74, of Raleigh, NC passed away Monday, March 2, 2020 from lung cancer at Transitions LifeCare Hospice Home. Lynn was born in Queens, New York June 6, 1945 to the late Walter and Elsie Jacobson. She had two brothers, Bruce Jacobson (Terry) and the late Allen Jacobson. Lynn was married October 12, 1968 to Roy Earl Young.
She loved hanging out with friends and family, ordering her daily Venti Mocha Frappuccino, double shot with whipped cream and extra drizzle from Starbucks, and stockpiling cookbooks for her many kitchen adventures. We also believe she might actually have the largest personal collection of books about the Kennedy’s and the Royal Family. She never met anything purple she didn’t like.
Lynn adored Christmas time and its many family traditions: cookie night, driving around the city looking at Christmas lights, stopping for a quick treat, spending hours meticulously decorating her home and Christmas tree, hosting holiday parties, enjoying a night at the Turkey Lounge at Angus Barn for the ambiance and a cocktail, and visiting with her loved ones at every opportunity.
Also known as Lolly, she adored spending time with her grandson, Carter. Whether it was for their routine sleepovers complete with a midnight snack and dance party, or a random day of games and tablet watching, she cherished their time together.
She was by far, one of the most intelligent and forward thinking women we knew. She was best known as a force of nature with a wonderful sense of humor who lived life on her own terms.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Earl Young. She is also survived and loved dearly by son Chad Young (Alexis Young), daughter Nikki Dickens (DeShawn Dickens), grandson Carter Dickens, brother Bruce Jacobson (Terry Jacobson), and countless other family members and friends that became family (including the UPS driver that delivered her daily Amazon Prime packages).
Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home: 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC. There will be a short visitation at 1PM with the service to begin at 1:30PM. A catered reception will follow.
The service will be a celebration held in the spirit in which she lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Triangle Aphasia Project, Unlimited. www.aphasiaproject.org.
The family of Lynn Jacobson Young wishes to thank Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh for their compassion and care during her transition.
