
Peggy was born on May 27, 1935, in Ashford, West Virginia, to Charles Perry Sr. and Vesta Perry (Morton). After finishing high school, she served in the United States Army, where she met her husband, Al Black. They shared a life filled with love and laughter.
After leaving the Army in 1962, Peggy devoted herself to raising her daughter, Teresa Lynn. She worked as a secretary in several businesses until she and Al moved to North Carolina in 1989 to be near Teresa, who had relocated there. Margaret worked at Rex Hospital in Raleigh until she retired in 2010.
Peggy enjoyed spending time with friends at the VFW and relaxing at her and Al’s cottage in Lake Gaston, Virginia. She loved being with her three grandchildren: Sean, Deanna, and Montana, as well as her four-legged grandchildren, Sophie and Tarah.
Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Al Black, her parents, and her seven brothers: Charles, Emory, Joseph, Paul, Ed, Phillip, and Donovan.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa, and her husband, David, of Raleigh, NC; her grandson, Sean, and his wife, Catherine, of Morrison, CO; her granddaughter, Deanna, of Rolesville, NC; her granddaughter, Montana, of Raleigh, NC; and many nieces and nephews in West Virginia, Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania and Arkansas.
There will be no visitation. A military funeral service and burial will be held on June 20, 2025, at Raleigh National Cemetery in Raleigh, NC, at 11:00 AM.
