

Margie McFatter Copeland, 90, passed away on July 6, 2012. She was born March 3, 1922 in DeRidder, LA to the late Daniel William and Addie Arrington McFatter. She was predeceased by her 3 brothers D.W., Buddy and Bill, and her sister Elvira.
Margie grew up, was educated and spent most of her life in Baton Rouge, LA. During World War II, she worked as a technologist in the lab at Ethyl Corp, as she awaited her aviator husband's release as a prisoner of war. After his return, they established their life among family and friends, many close since childhood, in Baton Rouge, living in the same home for more than 50 years. She was devoted to her family, enjoyed entertaining and was able to travel widely in the US and Canada with her husband as well as her granddaughters, who called her Mimi. Margie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 69 years, Derward R. Copeland, now of Raleigh, NC; her son, Dr. Dana D. Copeland and his wife, Martha Webb of Raleigh; granddaughters Brenna Copeland of Denver, CO and Dr. Kristen Copeland and husband Steve Johns and great-granddaughters Lucia and Sabine Johns of Cincinnati, OH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Falls River Village, 1100 Falls River Avenue, Raleigh, NC at 2 pm on Friday, July 27, 2012. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA, will occur at a later date.
