

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 5, 2017 in the chapel of Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Road with a reception following.
Mrs. McIntire was born Mary Anne Creech on November 29, 1947 in High Point, NC., where she was raised by a loving family and surrounded by cherished friends. She was a champion swimmer with the High Point Swim Club in her youth and was presented at the North Carolina State Debutante Ball by The Terpsichorean Club in 1966. Mary Anne graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Raleigh and took a post-graduate year at The American School in Lugano, Switzerland before attending The University of Georgia where she graduated in 1970. Her post-graduate studies included Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School and Old Dominion University. Mary Anne worked briefly as a high school teacher before turning her attention to the world of banking and finance. Her extensive career included positions in portfolio management, Institutional sales, investment analysis, and financial advising at Bank of America, First Interstate Bank, Wells Fargo Bank and Merrill Lynch.
Mary Anne moved to Los Angeles in 1979 and was married in 1981 to John A. McIntire of Hermosa Beach, California. Together they raised their daughter Katie. While living in Los Angeles she was a member of the Junior League of Los Angeles, The Sandpiper Women’s Club of Manhattan Beach and The Orphanage Guild. Mary Anne moved to Raleigh, NC in 2000 and worked in the Wake County Finance Department as an Investment analyst and portfolio manager until her retirement in 2012. She was most proud of her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution where she was Treasurer until she became ill.
Mary Anne will perhaps be most remembered for her love of travel which began as a student in Switzerland and throughout her life took her to such faraway places as Russia and New Zealand. She travelled extensively throughout Europe and Great Britain. She always made time for trips to the Carolina coast where she loved dancing to beach music and enjoying the sun, surf and local cuisine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother, Iris Culler Creech of High Point and her father, William Stevens Creech Sr. of High Point and Johnston County; brother William Stevens Creech Jr. of High Point; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. Rufus Creech Sr. of Johnston County, NC; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Roy B. Culler Sr. of High Point.
Mrs. McIntire is survived by her daughter Kathryn Elizabeth McIntire of Hermosa Beach, California; her former husband and Kathryn’s father, John A. McIntire of Hermosa Beach, California; her sisters Elizabeth Creech Raymond of Durham, NC, and Susan Creech Fowls and husband Don J. Fowls of Paradise Valley, Arizona; her nieces Sarah Phillips Raymond and husband Carl Williams of Richmond, Virginia, and Elizabeth Raymond Montgomery and husband Chad Montgomery of Denver, Colorado; her nephews Matthew Fowls of Denver, Colorado, William Fowls of Scottsdale, Arizona and Lucas Fowls of Paradise Valley, Arizona; and her many cousins, aunts and uncles of High Point and around the country.
