Mr. Herman was an amazingly, warm hearted man.  He was always involving people into the center of the action and inclusive with everyone.  He was a true friend and outstanding human being. The laughs, the conversations and wonderful light of his existence here on earth will never be filled in the same way with his passing.  Wrapped love and light to his family and all of us who knew just how much he will be missed.

Mike been two weeks and still can't believe you are not here with us.Know we didn't see each other but at meetings and parades  but just knowing you were here made everyone happy. Miss you forever . Love you Kay and we are here for you.

Mike, it was a short 42 years ago that we began a great friendship working in the same organization. Over the years, we stayed in touch through calls and messages discussing our work and news about our growing families--trials, tribulations and above all, sharing our concerns and love for them.
Diane and I will cherish forever the times we got together with you and Kay and you, Kay and your family. You talked of your family, played your guitar, sang and told the greatest jokes. I still have copies of your best ones. I wrote them down.
Mike, you were always there for me. You were always there with encouragement, mentoring on hard work issues and you sent frequent caring messages like the one we received following a major rain storm that hit near our home recently, asking "How you Farin?" 
We know you are singing and making them laugh in heaven. We will always remember you here. We love you and your family.

Mike was one of a kind...a dear friend and wonderful mentor. My heartfelt condolences go to his family, whom he loved so very much.  God bless you all...I've no doubt I'll see him - and jam with him - at the end of my journey.

Over 40 years ago, Mike walked my soon-to-be-sister-in-law down the aisle at First Alliance Atlanta. Seems like it was only a little while ago. He was a good friend for many, many years even though we'd not seen each other for way too long. Elaine and I will be keeping Kay, Jennifer, Nick and their families in our prayers. May the peace of God truly pass all understanding for you all.

We all share in the loss of a very good man. His smile, good nature and character will serve him well in heaven as it did here on earth. As we feel grief, pain and heart break, we gather memories to share and hold onto. We lean on friends and family to strengthen the bonds that hold us all together and what a great family it is. You are all in our prayers and thoughts.

When I became friends with Jennifer, I was struck by the generosity and kindness of her family. From the very beginning, when I visited, Mike and Kay opened up their home as if I had been a lifelong friend. They have a genuineness that is hard to find. Mike will be missed by so many. Mike mentored our startup business founders with invaluable advice. He helped us to navigate our choices and focus our energies. He will be greatly missed.

We travel in marvelous circles.  We travel in the circle of communications professionals who include counselors, writers, designers, trainers, and scholars.  We travel in marvelous circles, we musicians of hillbilly bands, Christmas parties, sweet ballads, and songs to and with grandchildren.  We travel in marvelous circles, we members of PRSA, RPRS, The Masonic Temple, Raleigh neighborhood, and Facebook community.  We travel in marvelous circles, we family and friends:  Mike was husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, and always a confidant and ally.   And Mike did not just travel these circles: he fostered them and nourished them, he invited others and kept watch as we revolved around him.  Our circles all intersect at the point where we knew Mike.  We travel in marvelous circles; let us take time to greet and console each other, to share our memories, and to celebrate Mike.

I worked with Mike from 2000-2008 while at Epley Assoc. Although I was in the Charlotte office and he in Raleigh and we did not spend a lot of time together I always remember him as a calming and caring individual that everyone respected. One of the kindest thing I remember is Mike taking the time to make CDs of Christmas music each year for all Epley employees, I still have the and play them. He touched a lot of people no doubt and will be missed.

What a gift it was to meet Michael a few months ago and to gain some valuable life and professional lessons. As well as have some laughs.  I am honored to have had the privilege.  I know you will be missed by many!

Mike was a good friend, public relations colleague and demonstrated in multiple ways his willingness to share his expertise with my students at Indina University. We shared time together that will not be forgotten and both derived great pleasure in making each other laugh to the point of tears.  My prayers are with his loved ones.
