Norbert Dennis Skorupa

Bert was born October 9, 1932, in Ashton, NE, to the late Leon Skorupa and Tillie (Skorupa) Kucera.

Bert proudly served his country for 24 years in the U.S. Army, as a Sergeant Major, serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Army, Bert worked with South Eastern Sales, in Raleigh, for 23 years. He was a devoted and loving family man that enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, of 57 years, Joan M. Skorupa; his two daughters, Vickie S. Hall & her husband Dennis R. Hall of Wendell, Katherine S. Costine & her husband Brian W. Costine of Raleigh; his four grandchildren, Shannon T. Smith & her husband Carl W. Smith, April H. Cutchins & her husband J. Luke Cutchins, Bradley N. Hall & his wife Jesscia B. Hall, and Matthew N. Tugwell; Great-Grandchildren, Chloe K. Smith, Kaleigh B. Cutchins & Blake V. Hall; his sister, Barbara J. Dunn of Lincoln NE; and brother-in-law, Gary E. Matson and his wife, Sandy of Surfside Beach, S.C.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh NC 27609. Funeral service will be held at Saint James United Methodist Church, 3808 St James Church Rd. Raleigh, NC 27604, on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, with full military honors.
