Patricia Ann Wells, 90, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died on October 16, 2025. Patricia was born on December 17, 1934, in Murray, Kentucky to R. Ivan Futrell and Myrtle Morris Futrell. She graduated from Murray High School and attended Murray State College.
Patricia worked alongside other pioneering women in the early days of computer work in the N.C. General Assembly. She enjoyed interior design, camping, ikebana arrangements, growing orchids, genealogy, square dancing, ballroom dancing, weaving, pottery, sewing, traveling, stained glass, reading and working on the couple's beloved mountain cabin. She was a devoted member of the Francis Asbury Class at Edenton Street United Methodist Church for 60 years. She served on the church's Administrative Board and guided the Leisure Ministries.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Gene T. Wells, to whom she was married for over 70 years, sister Mary Margarett Moss, and brother John M. Futrell. She is survived by her sons G. Thomas Wells Jr. (Louise) of Raleigh and Michael C. Wells of Carson, CA, three grandchildren, Cameron W. O'Quinn (Ryan) of Ashburn, VA, Emory W. Jepsen (Chris) of Raleigh, and John-Thomas W. Wells of Raleigh, and four great-grandchildren, Sophie and Charlotte O'Quinn and Phoebe and Reuben Jepsen.
The funeral service will be held at Edenton Street United Methodist Church (228 W. Edenton Street, Raleigh, NC 27603) in the sanctuary at 11:00am on Saturday, October 25. Visitation with the family will follow the service in the ESUMC Garden Gallery. For those who are unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at ESUMC.org/live. Burial will be held on Monday, October 27 at 12:00 noon in Historic Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Brown - Wynne Funeral Home Millbrook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ruth Sheets Adult Care Center at Edenton Street United Methodist Church.
