Phyllis Gwen Godwin Watson

Phyllis Gwen Watson, died peacefully on February 26, 2010 at the House of Hospice of Wake County in Cary, NC. She was born in Johnston County, NC on January 8, 1939, to Eardith and Cora Godwin. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Gregory Glen Watson. She is survived by her husband, Billy Watson of Raleigh, NC ; her son Christopher and wife Denise Watson of Knightdale, NC; her grandchildren Christina, Coley, Jamey and Cameron Watson; Her brother Eric and Susan Godwin of Selma, NC; her sisters Peggy and Bobby Higgins of Apex, NC; Janie and Roy Peedin of Apex, NC; Marietha and Harold Peacock of Newport News, VA; Pamela and J.W. Parker of Mt Olive, NC; plus several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was a member and Executive Secretary of The Association of Retarded Citizens for 25 years. She was instrumental in establishing a chapter in the late 60’s in Wake County. She was instrumentally involved in the art fundraisers at ARC. She was also a member of Millbrook Baptist Church Choir for over 30 years.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday March 6, 2010 at Millbrook Baptist Church, 1519 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC 27607.

Phyllis will be deeply missed and always loved by her family and friends. Peace be with her now and forever.
