

Raeford Earl Langdon, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on April 14, 2025. Born on November 14, 1935, Earl lived a remarkable life filled with dedication, family, and faith. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, whose teachings guided his kind and compassionate spirit throughout his life.
After graduating from high school, Earl pursued his studies at North Carolina State University. Though his initial focus was on engineering and forestry, his upbringing on a farm inspired him to graduate in 1960 with a degree in Agronomy. That same year, on June 26, 1960, he married Faye Lee and began building a beautiful life together. Shortly thereafter, Earl started his career as a county agent in Bertie County, NC, and they welcomed their first son, David Earl in 1961
Earl proudly served with the North Carolina National Guard from 1954 to 1967. In 1963, he received his officer commission as a Lieutenant, reflecting his dedication and leadership within the Guard. His commitment to service and community was evident throughout his years.
Earl’s professional journey saw him excel in agricultural support, working with Eli Lilly and Dow Chemical, and raising his family in Ahoskie with the birth of, Roger Lee in 1965 and Raleigh, with the birth of Jeffrey Neal in 1969. He retired in 1996 after a distinguished career, embracing retirement with a love for gardening, fishing, boating, and traveling with Faye in their motorhome.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Faye Lee; his three sons, David Earl (Margaret), Roger Lee (Sharon), and Jeffrey Neal (Shannon); his cherished grandchildren, Josh, Cole, Drew, Jackson, Mason, Lily, and Kristen Grezaffi (Walter) ; and his great-grandchildren, Taylor and William Grezaffi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raeford and Bessie Langdon and sisters Anna Ruth Parker and Frances Parker.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Earl's hospice and care team for their unwavering support and compassion during his transitional care. Their kindness and dedication brought comfort to Earl and his loved ones.
A service to honor and celebrate Earl's life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, located at 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, NC 27609, on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church or Hospice Care in Raeford Earl Langdon’s memory.
Earl will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to inspire generations.
