Richard C. Arthur Jr. of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on December 12, 2014. He was born in Danville, VA on July 14, 1926 to R.C. Arthur, Sr. and Janie Taylor Hubbard, was the oldest of five children, and had 4 sisters, Peggy, Shelby, Elon, and Linda.
He was a retired Air Traffic Controller who proudly served in the military during WWII and the Korean conflict, and served as Post Commander for two years at VFW #6510 in Tallahassee, FL.. He was a former resident of Danville, VA; Roanoke, VA; Tallahassee, FL; and currently resided in Wake Forest with his daughter and son in law, Linda and Gary Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Mae Smith Arthur, and is survived by two sisters, Shelby Harris and Elon Kennedy; four children, Linda Shepherd, R.C. Arthur, III, Michael Arthur, and Donna Luehrs; four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC on December 16, 2014 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to your local American Legion or VFW in his honor.
