ROBERTA ANN LANG, 75, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Blanche Lang, and her beloved sister, Paula Lang. Roberta is survived by her sister Carly (Jimmy) Sheehan of Jupiter, Florida, and her brothers Edward (Aurora) Lang of Woodstock, Georgia, and Michael (Linda) Lang of Bellaire, Texas.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, Roberta grew up by the beach in North Palm Beach, Florida—a place that shaped her love of the water, family, and adventure. She was Bat Mitzvahed at Temple Beth El and became an all-state swimmer at Riviera Beach High School.
Roberta went on to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Florida, paving the way for a remarkable career at IBM as one of the first five women hired at the North Carolina Research Triangle. There, she made Raleigh her home for more than 50 years, where coworkers became lifelong friends and her home became a gathering place for parties.
Those who knew Roberta will remember her culinary expertise, her brownies, and her obsession with all things purple. An avid traveler, Ro worked two years in Italy, took a year sabbatical in Israel, and loved collecting pottery and kaleidoscopes from her travels. Family meant everything to her, and she rarely missed a milestone or celebration for her nieces and nephews: Nicholas (Annie) Moskowitz, Shannon (Aldo) Moskowitz, Kali (Sam) Raphael, Nicole Lang, and Jeremiah Trinidad. In recent years, she delighted in her role as great-aunt to Zoe, Charlie, Whitney, and Yonder. Roberta will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her dearest friends, Karen Quidley, Sandy Berman, and Shirley Willett, who provided immense support and care.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 1p.m. at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Ave., West Palm Beach. Donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
