Thomas Jerome Hughes

The family of Thomas “Tommy” Jerome Hughes, age 81, 305 Coach and Four Court, are saddened to announce his passing on June 19th, 2024, at Wake Med Hospital. Tommy was born on June 4,1943 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Alabama, was an avid Alabama fan (Roll Tide), he enjoyed playing golf especially at North Ridge Country Club and worked at 1BM for 46 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nancy B. Hughes “Linda” of Raleigh; his daughter, Traci N. Hughes of Raleigh; his brother Rev. Sammy V. Hughes (Sue) of Tuscaloosa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie G. Hughes; his mother, Ora Braford Hughes; his son, Thomas Gregory “Greg” Hughes; his three sisters Dorthy “Dot” B. Wigley, Margie Crowder, Gerri Townsend; and his brothers, Donald Ray Hughes, Sr. and Robert Earl “Bobby” Hughes.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, with his brother, Rev. Sammy Hughes, presiding. Visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
