Thomas Joseph Keys Jr.

Thomas Joseph Keys, Jr passed away peacefully on November 18, 2011. Thomas was born to the late Thomas Keys, Sr. and Ann Egan Keys on November 15, 1922 in Queens, NY. Thomas attended Newtown High School in Queens, New York. Thomas worked for American Airlines from 1940 – 1986 and served in the US Army from 1943 – 1945.

He married the love of his life, his late wife Jean Senger on February 5, 1949. They moved to New York City and lived there till 1961. Then the happy couple moved to Long Island, NY from 1961-1979; Euless, Texas from 1979-2008; and then Thomas settled down in Raleigh, NC in 2008 to live at Abbottswood Senior Living Community. Together Thomas and Jean had four children; Carol (John) Medea of Bonita Springs, FL, Patricia Fanning of Raleigh, NC, Barbara (David) Keys of Raleigh, NC, and Thomas (Pat) Keys of Plano, TX.

Thomas’s loving family continues to grow with nine grandchildren: Jill Medea Aliener, Koren Medea Kollmer, Lynn Medea Pritti, Megan Medea Maguire, Brian Keys, Kevin Keys, Sarah Keys, Matthew Keys, Cristina Keys; and eight great-grandchildren: Jack, Abby, Owen, Josh, Sammy, Noah, Declan, Zachary and soon to be Henry in February 2012.

There will be a visitation and a prayer service for Thomas on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, 27609. There will be an interment at the Bluebonnet Hill Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
