Vera Jarmila Frelih Halusa

She is survived by her son Dubravko (wife Leslie) and her daughters Karen Ordanic (husband Zvonimir) and Rujana Hetman (husband Paul). She is also survived by her brother Georg Frelih and grandchildren Goran Halusa (wife Julia), Scott Hetman (wife Kellie), and Michael Hetman (wife Carol). She leaves behind her great-grandchildren Sean, Connor, and Caroline Hetman.

She was preceded in death by her husband Branko and brother Ernest Frelih.

She was born and raised in Karlovac, Croatia, and attended college in Zagreb, Croatia, and Paris, France. She was a linguist and, after raising her three children, she worked for a major newspaper in Zagreb, as well as a translator.

In 1962, she immigrated with her husband and children to the US. After living in Albany, NY, for several years, she and her husband moved to Raleigh to be closer to their daughters and their families.

Actively involved in charitable activities, church, and volunteering in a local Alzheimer's respite group until the end of her life, she had many friends and enjoyed her life fully.

Her family and friends will miss her greatly.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 East Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC.

Burial will be private.
