Violet Jean Barrett

Violet Jean (Vickie) Barrett, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully at Rex Hospital, Monday, July 8, 2024. Born March 14, 1942, in Fayetteville, NC, the eldest child of Evelyn Matilda Tew and Andrew Jackson Barrett. After graduating High School in Batesburg, SC, she had a lengthy career with the Internal Revenue Service, and returned to her educational pursuits, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from North Carolina State University at the age of 61.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Debbie, her niece Joanna Kay Broadwell, and her husband, Wayne Eldon Krahn Senior. She is survived by her siblings, Linda Fay Broadwell, Andrew Jackson Barrett Junior, Ernestine Spires, and Joey Huff, as well as her beloved nieces Amy Emmanuel and Sue Wilson of Fayetteville, NC.

She is survived by her favorite child, Evelyn Marie (Krahn) Marson of Ontario, Canada, her other favorite child Wayne Eldon Krahn Junior of Oak Island, NC and her other favorite child, William George Krahn of Kitty Hawk, NC; as well as her son in law Larry Marson, daughters in law Lisa Ellixson Krahn and Andrea Altman Krahn, grandchildren Ashley “OG” Krahn of Oak Island, Rena Krahn Outland of Kitty Hawk, Katherine Marie Marson of Edinburgh, Scotland, Riley Lorelei Krahn of Kitty Hawk, and Peter John Marson of Ontario, Canada.

Last year, Vickie was overjoyed to become a great grandmother to Tillie Krahn Outland of Kitty Hawk, who is a blessing to all.
