Willard Will Leroy Barker

Will was born March 19, 1936 in Raleigh, NC to Millard Ray and Mabel Gray Barker. After studying electronics at Devry Technical Institute in Chicago, Will worked in the electronics industry in management and sales with Corning Glassworks. In later years he enjoyed work in his real estate business in Raleigh. With more than twenty years of military service, he retired as Lt. Colonel from the North Carolina Army Air National Guard (Aviation 1/130th). Will was a member of Christ Baptist Church where he served on the Contributions Count Team and was also active in Bible Study Fellowship and Bible Application Class.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Millard Ray Barker, Jr.; William E. Barker; Robert L. Barker; sisters, Judy Coley; Marie Yow; and Doris Southall.

Will is survived by his wife of 37 years, Faye Ridout Barker; sons, Willard Leroy Barker, Jr. and his wife, Kaye of Myrtle Beach, SC; William David Barker and his wife, Crystal of Raleigh; daughter, Teresa Jan Barker Bunch and her husband, David of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Carol Hannah and her husband, Bill of Pinehurst; Edith Rose Watkins and her husband, Roger of Little River; sisters-in-law, Lucille Barker of Wrightsville Beach; and Kaye H. Barker of Edenton; grandchildren, Nathan Stephenson; Alan Barker; and Amanda Barker.

The family will receive friends 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1st at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011, at Christ Baptist Church, 400 Newton Road, Raleigh, NC 27615. Burial will follow the service at Raleigh Memorial Park in the Garden of Prayer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests consideration of memorials to Christ Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 Newton Road, Raleigh, NC 27615.
