Anna passed away with her daughter Susan at her side.
Anna Belle was born in Wheaton, Kansas to Floyd and Winifred Coulter at the start of the Dust Bowl.
The extended Coulter Family started their migration to California with her grandfather and uncles in the mid 30's. Upon her grandfather finding work in Proberta, California area, Anna's father brought another wave of the family from Kansas to Proberta in 1938.
At that time, she met Doris (Mills) Ross (also from Kansas) at age seven and the two remained best friends for life and shared many memories of growing up in the country during the Depression and WWII.
After graduating from Red Bluff High School in 1948, Anna met her future husband Stewart at Camp Richardson, Tahoe where she worked as a telephone operator, and he as a gas station attendant.
They married in 1951 and moved to Tuscan, Arizona where her husband was stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. They later returned to California, and settled in Mountain View to raise three daughters.
She shared a fascination of genealogy with her daughter Catherine, and marveled at her father's large family. She loved going to family and high school reunions to hear stories and reminisce.
Gifted with a creative side, Anna's passion was gardening where she was most content. Side by side with her husband, they would landscape their yard into beautiful show pieces that were admired by many.
One of those special places was in Trinity Center, California where they vacationed for over 40 years, and eventually retired in 1986. During that time, there were numerous gatherings with family and friends. She especially loved having her grandchildren visit by going on hikes, walks and day trips.
Later in 2003, they divided their time between Trinity Center and Redding, California until she moved there permanently in 2013. Anna loved her home in Redding, and on any given day, you would find her outside in the yard. Always with the love of nature and animals on the forefront, she accommodated all the wildlife that paid a visit. Her love of animals included the indoor ones, never without a dog or cat at her side in her entire adult life.
A country girl at heart, and is dearly missed.
Remember me when I am gone
But not with sorrow, pain and grief
Think of me as a turning leaf
That in winter falls from its branch
To be born again in spring
And live forever in your heart
Christine Currah
