Betty Jean Garcia passed away on June 16, 2024 at 8:21am (Skylar Garcia Grandson to Betty, Race Number 821 who passed in 2013) in Red Bluff, CA. She fought long and hard until the very end, but she wanted to go out on her own terms. She was born in Hastings, North Carolina to Clivie and Fuller High on August 17, 1940. Being the youngest there was always a full house with several brothers and sisters. She took on additional financial responsibilities at a very young age and started working in the cotton fields to help provide for her family. With a limited education she gained core value and a strong work ethics. She took pride in everything she did with determination and true grit. She was a fighter and was known by many for her strength and perseverance. She met the love of her life Alvin while jumping over puddles in a Dairy Queen parking lot in 1959.She was 19 years old and Alvin was 20, they were married a short time after. The Army took them throughout the United States where she was a dedicated wife of a military man. Betty, Alvin and their 3 children would go on adventures and explore new places together. It did not matter where they were she always made their house into a home and loved being a Wife and Mother. After welcoming 3 beautiful children into the world the Army called for one last change. They all packed up and left Santa Rosa moving to Red Bluff in 1975. Red Bluff would be where they would raise their children and help raise their grandchildren and great grandchildren. The two of them shared 55 years together and had a beautiful marriage, always leaning on each other in time of need as well as enjoying life’s beautiful wonders. They loved spending quality time together as well as surrounding themselves with family and friends. They raised their children and grandchildren in Church and loved sharing the word of God. Betty loved caring for others and owned a care home for the elderly for many years. She showed her patients love and compassion in their time of need. She used to sing to her patient’s and her grandchildren just to make them smile. This Little Light of Mine was always a favorite. You could always hear her singing or humming a toon. Music made her happy, she loved gospel music and worshiping the Lord. Family was everything to her and maintaining traditions passed down to the next generation. It did not matter what we did long as we were all together enjoying adventures and making memories. She enjoyed camping where family would play games, float down the river, hike, and fish. Cooking was always her passion, and everyone would agree her food was delicious. Food was her love language and for those who were fortunate to receive a meal prepared by her would testify she was an amazing cook. Those enchiladas will be missed. Alvin and Betty were inseparable until he took his last breath on July 1, 2014. After the loss of her husband, she became very independent while leaning on her faith, family and friends. She stayed active in her church and remained a strong role model for her family. She was afighter and gave this life her all. She was in remission from lung cancer and never gave up. Her door was always open to visitors. She will be missed dearly, but we are so thankful you are reunited with The Love of Your Life and can live in eternity with our Lord and Savior. “It will be better tomorrow,” became a phrase in her last months. Taking life one day a time, being optimistic, leaning on faith and family it will always get better.
