

Colleen, age 81, passed away at her home on May 18, 2012 surrounded by loved ones.
She had fought a courageous battle with cancer. Now absent from the body, she is with her Lord and Savior.
Born on May 28, 1930 in Missouri to Rita M. and Louis W. Owens. She moved to California with her family in the 1940's where she met and married James O. Cheek in 1945. They raised two sons, Duke and Joey.
Early married life started with dairy farming in California/Oregon, and returning to Northern California to enter the logging industry. After her late husbands death in 1979 she became owner and operator of Cheek Logging and Trucking, continuing the family business with her two sons. She retired from her business in 1993, but continued to work on her home, landscaping and enjoying life.
Colleen is survived by her son Duke (JoAnn) of Cottonwood, CA., son Joe (Angie) of Baja, brother Louis Owens (Hilda) of Pittville, CA., grandchildren Chris Cheek (Jamie), Cynthia Vengley (John) and Jim Watson (Gail), 3 great grandchildren, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service for family and friends will be at 9am Wednesday, May 23rd, Oak Hill Cemetery on Walnut St.
