Born and raised in Crescent City, California, Richard moved to Red Bluff in 1972 with his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Kathleen, and their two young daughters. Together, they built a life filled with love, hard work and perseverance—a testament to Richard’s belief that his greatest accomplishments in life were his marriage of 57 years to Kathleen, his daughters Kristine Randolph (John) and Kori Gallagher (David), his four grandchildren—Parker, Morgan, Landon, and Braydon—and his bonus grandchildren, Josh and Brooke Randolph.
Having endured many family losses and personal challenges early in life, Richard lived by a simple yet powerful motto: "You play the hand that you are dealt." He believed in moving forward with strength and honesty —values that shaped his life and inspired those around him.
Over the years, Richard became well known for his custom woodworking and cabinetry. He took great pride in his craft, always striving to deliver quality work and satisfy his customers. A true “MacGyver,” he was the go-to man for fixing just about anything—his grandchildren often declared with confidence, "Grandpa can fix it!"
He loved his family, cherished the home he built, and had a passion for fast cars, rock and roll, classic westerns, and everyday people. Always the one rooting for the underdog, his no-nonsense attitude, hearty laugh, and unforgettable big hugs will be deeply missed by his family.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal service—honoring his request, “Don't shed a tear over me.” Instead, we celebrate his remarkable life, the memories he leaves behind, and his legacy of strength, love, and humor.
Job well done, Richard. We love you and will always cherish your spirit.
