The world lost a great man on Friday, July 9th, 2021. Clarence "Chuck" Greer was born the second oldest of 6 children on May 10th, 1942 in Centrillia, Washington. Chuck graduated from Shasta High School in 1960 and became a smoke jumper with the Forest Service. He then enlisted in the Army where he fought for our country in the Vietnam War. He was 101st Airborne and was awarded many medals. After leaving the Army he was hired back by the US Forest Service. His love for jumping our of perfectly good airplanes brought him back to smoke jumping. He was married to Billie Jean Wright in 1970. He then went to Chico State and got a Bachelor's degree in history. They had three beautiful children- Mike, Kimberly, and Leah. Chuck worked for the Forest Service in Mount Shasta until he transferred in 1995 to the Redding office until he retired. Chuck also had three grandsons- Kirk Jr., Kyle, and Calvin.
Chuck lost Billie to cancer in 1995. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2008.
Chuck was an amazing man and would do anything to help his family and friends. He is and will always be missed.
