Dorothy was born to parents Nannie Alice and James Taylor Callahan in Erwin, Tennessee. She passed away after a sudden illness. She had lived at Oak River in Anderson for several years.Dorothy met and married Norman Riley (deceased in 1982) in January 1943. Since 1944, Dorothy lived, waitressed and raised her children in Redding and Anderson. She worked at Lucky Chop Suey which later became Far East Cafe owned by Wee Lee Yee. They were parents to 6 children, 5 still living, Louise Thiel, Norman E. Riley, Lenora Wheat, Timothy D. Riley, Henry W. Riley, a son Sammy passed away at 19 months old in 1944. She leaves behind her only living sibling of 6, Jean Edwards of Erwin, Tenn. She also leaves her beloved 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one on the way.Dorothy attended Beacon Missionary Baptist Church until going to reside at Oak River. She will be missed by all.There will be a very short graveside service after which family and close friends will gather for extended service and fellowship at the Beacon Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside is April 18th, 10 AM at McDonalds "Redding Memorial Park" same grounds. She will be buried beside her husband Norman.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Beacon Missionary Baptist Church.
